So grateful to be back on the blog after what has been an insane year so far.
For starters, I LOVE my new job. Working for the Democratic Party has been a dream, and though it’s hard work, it’s a blessing to do work that I’m passionate about and fulfills me.
2016 has been a hard year for us in other ways though.
As you may recall, in December, our sweet girl Marlow was diagnosed with cancer. While her vet gave us 9 months, her situation deteriorated rapidly, and we lost her in early February. We still think about her all the time and miss her desperately. We are grateful for the time we had with her, and devastated at her loss. So many days were stolen from us, and we will have a special place for her always.
We love living in Portland, it is such a fun city. However, the home we moved into in December (and signed a lease for), was apparently in pre-foreclosure when we moved, which our landlord did not disclose to us, and we did not find out until the house was being sold. Unfortunately, this means another stressful move (and the nightmare of finding a place to live in Portland), but we’ll stick through.
Despite these sad and stressful things, life is looking up! We have a venue for our wedding, and love being closer to our friends. Our dear friends Alex & Sarah were engaged in April and have asked V to officiate and me to be a bridesmaid! We can’t wait to celebrate with them.
Life is a crazy, beautiful, and challenging thing. We are so grateful to be able to share it with you.
